Have you ever wondered what other schools really think about Bellevue High School? What is our reputation? Are we diverse and intelligent, or are we good at sports? What are our strengths and weaknesses?

“Bellevue High School is really diverse and offers students lots of opportunities,” said sophomore Saisha Sarkar from Lake Washington High School.

Whether those opportunities mean our shelves full of sports trophies, our award-winning theater productions or our seniors set to be attending the Ivy League, our school is known for having a variety of classes, clubs and sports. Providing students with a range with over 30 APs to choose from and unique experiences like our auto shop program or our culinary classes.

“Bellevue High School has good football players,” said sophomore Krishna Sridhar from Interlake.

Our amazing football team, last year’s state champions and this year’s runner ups.

“Bellevue High School focuses a lot on sports and has a competitive yet collaborative culture,” said junior Nimisha Bondugula from Interlake.

Our team sports are known for their winning streaks and record-breaking seasons. Last year our cheer team won State championships and even placed third in the nation.

However, our reputation isn’t always positive.

“Bellevue High School is where all the rich Medina kids go,” said junior Lasya Yarlagadda from Interlake.

Bellevue High School is thankful for our many sponsors and a giving community that allow us to fund our diverse programs and sport. Many teachers have expressed gratitude for our community’s ability to pass levies, a short-term local property tax to fund a portion of educational programs collected by the school district, so our school is able to have the funds it needs. According to the BSD website, over the last nine years tax rates for local schools have declined by 20%. Local levies have helped to bridge the funding gap between the district’s state funding and the costs for tools, facilities and programs. We are extremely grateful for our community, and we try to give back by volunteering. Additionally, not only do Medina kids attend our school but students from all over the district too. Our new open enrollment policies bring in students from other cities, like Renton, not just the Bellevue area. Allowing for our school to be more diverse and support more students.

Bellevue High School is proud to be a diverse community that strives for quality education and achieves the best in athletics. Other schools, even Bellevue rivals, agree that we are strong in education and athletics.
