Seattle finally got to have its moment again.  After 11 years they finally got their revenge on the Patriots to avenge their devasting Super Bowl loss in 2015.  The parade felt like the whole city showed up at once. The streets were packed with fans, all of them yelling with excitement, just taking in the moment fully.

“I felt the passion in crowd, and it was extremely rowdy,” senior Stella O’Connor said.

The road to winning the Lombardi trophy felt kind of easy in a way. With the Seattle Seahawks beating the New England Patriots 29-13, it never felt like they were panicked and they stayed in control the whole game. The first three quarters summed up the game, after which Seattle was up 12-0 after three, and New England could not get anything going on the offensive end. The Patriots constantly dealing with heavy pressure from the Seattle defense that prevented them from catching a rhythm.

Seattle’s defense deserves most of the credit. Drake Maye was under stress all game, and once Seattle’s defense gets him playing sped up it became hard to get anything going. New England finished with three turnovers, which included two picks.

Offensively, it was not perfect, but the Seahawks managed to effectively use the ground game. Kenneth Walker III ran hard all night, finished with 161 total yards, and won Super Bowl MVP. He dominated the ground all game and seemed to be the only one to get the offense moving.

Also, it’s important to give a lot of credit to Jason Myers. Five field goals in a Super Bowl is ridiculous, and it was his foot which enabled Seattle to keep stacking points even when drives stalled out.

The dagger to the game came early in the fourth quarter, when Sam Darnold hit AJ Barner for the first touchdown of the game, making it 19-0. After that, the Patriots continued to chase an even bigger lead, which they made little progress to cut down on throughout the whole game.

New England did score one late, but it never felt like a real comeback. Then later in the fourth quarter, Uchenna Nwosu picked one off and took it to the house which fully solidified the win.

When the clock hit double zeros, most Seattle fans couldn’t even put into words the feeling they felt.

“It was electric; all the boys jumping up and down, hugging each other. It’s truly was a once in a lifetime experience,” senior Rory Ritchie said.

Overall, the game itself was not “pretty,” but it was satisfying. A good defensive battle where Seattle dominated and came out on top, has led to the Seahawks bringing its second Super Bowl back to Seattle.
