The Seattle Mariners 2025 season has been remarkable. For starters, their 90-72 regular season record was one of the best records in MLB. Not to mention, they were the AL West champions, for the first time since 2001. Even though the regular season is over, they are still into the thick of playoffs.
Being the only Major League team in baseball to never go to the World Series, the Mariners were on a mission to break the curse this year.
And though Seattle isn’t used to this fame, it hasn’t seemed to matter. These Mariners games have brought the Seattle community together, with much love of the city watching the games decked out in Mariners gear and cheering their hearts out. Bellevue students too, showing up to school with their Mariners jerseys on and having watch parties in classes. It is a good time to be a Mariners fan.
Our very own Bellevue students are no exception. Seniors Brody Gayte, Duke Stauffer, Bo Storm, and Eduardo Molina have brought the energy by showing up to playoff games.
“I have been a Mariners fan since I was born, and this season was one of the best yet. Job not finished, let’s go!” Gayte said.

During the postseason, the Mariners earned a first-round bye for having one of the top two regular-season records in the American League. In the ALDS, they faced the Detroit Tigers. Tied 2-2 in a best of five, the series came down to game 5, which ended up being a 15-inning game as the Mariners won 3-2. This advanced them to the third round of the playoffs, the American League Championship Series.
The Mariners then faced the Toronto Blue Jays, one of their big rivals. Having the better record, the Blue Jays hosted the first two games in Toronto. With Toronto fiery fans, the odds were in the Blue Jays favor, but the Mariners shut them down and won the first two games of the series. But, heading over to Seattle for the next three games ended in disappointment, as Seattle only won one of the three, giving the Mariners a 3-2 lead. Heading back to Toronto, the Mariners were one win away from the World Series. But the Blue Jays took Game 6, tying the series at three games apiece and forcing a winner-take-all Game 7 in Toronto.
Sadly, the Mariners ended up just short, losing 4-3 in Game 7. Players, fans, and staff alike were devastated, and many were at a loss for words. This loss ended the Mariners great run, but even though it wasn’t the outcome they wanted, it was heck of a season, and they should be proud of all they accomplished.
“This year I watched more Mariners games then ever. The games were so fun to go to with the players (Cole Young and Cal Raleigh), the great food, and especially going to the games with Haiden,” senior Sadie Docternman said.
We will come back stronger next year, SEA US RISE!
