How to prepare for finals

Feb 4

With finals coming up, many students are filled with anticipation and anxiety. All students are familiar with the adrenaline rush they get as they sit down to take their exam.

But do not fret Bellevue, The Barque is here to provide support and advice!

Self-confidence is key. You have been studying for over four months and know the material by heart. Do not second guess yourself when answering questions. Do not change your answer if you are unsure, because more than half the time, your original answer is correct (Chariot Learning). Go over all of the questions and circle any that you are not sure of to come back to review.

When studying, it is best to create a schedule that manages your time efficiently and has breaks for balance. For example, you could study with no distractions for thirty minutes to an hour, then take a ten-minute break to walk around and stretch. Do not cram all your studying into one day; spread out your time, as this will help reduce stress levels from excessive work overload.

Additionally, going to sleep early and getting a good night’s rest is crucial for testing success. Your brain will feel rejuvenated, and you won’t feel the desire to close your eyes and fall asleep mid-test.

Furthermore, make sure to not skip breakfast in the morning because nutrients will help fuel your brain and allow you to perform to the best of your ability.

When the time comes, take some deep breaths in and out, do not doubt yourself and be confident, because you know a lot more than you think.

Good luck Bellevue and hope you have a successful finals week!
