It’s a cold winter night in December, and the streets are crowded with people.  Sounds of excitement ring out as snowflakes drift from the sky.  One by one, the streets fill with life, flashing lights and loud holiday music facilitating holiday cheer.  The magic that is created on the streets of Bellevue during the month of December is a result of the Bellevue Collection’s production of Snowflake Lane.  The holiday spirit also isn’t lost on students, as they can work in the evenings as performers.

The Snowflake Lane casting team allows auditions from anyone 14 years and older to be part of the performers in the parade.  Wages start at $40 a night, so with the combined performances across the entire month of December, the max amount of money you can earn is about $1400 if you preform every single night.

“I loved interacting with the crowd. It’s very fun, and you get to meet a lot of new people,” said senior Vishmaya Rajesh.

Traditionally, Snowflake Lane starts after Black Friday in November and runs all the way to Christmas Eve, presenting almost 30 full opportunities to earn some money.  While it may seem costly to have to sacrifice time on winter nights, Snowflake Lane is a job opportunity that comes at the perfect time.

“There’s often a social pressure to buy presents for the winter holidays, sometimes, if you don’t have a job, it’s extremely costly.”  said sophomore Eli Penner.

With Snowflake Lane just in time, students who work are guaranteed to gain that extra spending money to spend on the perfect gifts for their family members.  So, for those who are considering it, take that leap, and get that money!
