Raising Cane’s is a popular fast food restaurant chain in 34 states, with Texas holding the most locations. In July 2024, Washington opened their first location in Vancouver. Despite having over 800 locations, Raising Cane’s does not currently have a single restaurant open in the Seattle area. Many Bellevue students go out of their way to stop for Raising Cane’s when traveling. That is set to change this late spring, as the company will be opening a store in the University District on University Way Northeast.

Many people wonder what makes Raising Cane’s chicken more exciting than other fast food places. Based in Louisiana, the chain was founded in 1996. Much like In-N-Out, the limited availability in Washington state makes Raising Cane's rarer and more unique. However, Cane’s is known for their signature sauce which makes them stand out from any other fried chicken restaurant. Raising Cane’s sauce is primarily made up of mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and freshly cracked black pepper. The exact recipe is considered a secret, but it’s essentially a creamy, tangy and peppery sauce that pairs perfectly with their tender chicken. Many people get the three-finger combo with chicken fingers, crinkle cut fries, Cane’s sauce, Texas toast and a fountain drink. If you aren’t feeling like chicken tenders, their menu also contains a chicken sandwich.

Raising Cane’s also has plans for locations in Lynnwood and downtown Renton in years to come. The Seattle location doesn’t have a specific opening date, so keep an eye out for opening day and treat your friends to lunch!
