With the New Year just beginning, now is the perfect time for students to reflect on the past year and get pumped up about the new one. Now is a fresh start for students in school, sports, extracurricular activities, and beyond. Let’s take a look at some BHS’s New Year’s Resolutions!

“My resolution for this year is to go to bed earlier and prioritize getting more sleep,”  junior Riley Gribble said.

Gribble does gymnastics, a sport that takes up most of her time after school. Like many other students at BHS who do extracurricular activities, it can be hard to balance school, activities, and sleep. But sleep is the most important of all, as it rejuvenates the brain after a hard day at work. Some ways to maintain a better sleep schedule is to cut back on social media use or manage your time efficiently by not procrastinating.

“I want to lock in second semester at school this year by getting better grades, going to tutorial more, and never being late to class,”  sophomore Pablo Lopez said.

Second semester is a fresh start with new grades and classes which is a perfect time for students to forget about last semester and focus on the new one. Going to tutorial to talk to teachers one on one if you don’t understand a unit can be beneficial. Not to mention this is a new time to not be tardy to class, no one wants tardy workshop!

“My New Year’s Resolution is to eat healthier, and to go to the gym more,”  senior Daphne Dobson said.

After New Year’s, summer is slowly creeping up, getting closer and closer, and it’s never too early to start building your summer bod. The new year is also a time to try new recipes, whether they be sweet like Nutella and apples or savory like yogurt and nuts. Try to make workout plans, starting easy like going to the gym once or twice a week, to building up to three or four times a week. It doesn’t matter where you start- as long as you start, you’ll begin to see improvements.

“This year, I want take up new hobbies and try activities I’ve never done before such as painting and drawing pictures,” junior Hutton Adam said.

New year, new you. Running, painting, hiking, sewing, the list goes on and on of different activities to begin. Putting yourself out there and trying something new can result in a new favorite hobby that you otherwise would never knew about.

When we get to around the new year, try setting yourself three or more New Year’s Resolutions. To try and hold yourself accountable, write them down somewhere or tell someone. And after a few months, don’t forget to look back and evaluate to see your progress. New opportunities and beginnings are before us, and the ball is in our hands!
