Summer is calling, and theres one thing that every Washington resident is looking forward to— the hikes! The PNW is a hiker’s dream, offering beautiful landscapes from sparkling lakes to lush forests. Whether you are a seasoned trekker or just want to seek out stunning views, here are some of the best hikes to check out this summer.
Rattlesnake Ledge (Snoqualmie)
This is a four-mile round trip hike with a view of a bright turquoise lake over a rocky ledge, with panoramic views of the surrounding forest and mountains. I recommend going at sunrise- and if you are going later, be prepared for crowds!
Lake 22 (Granite Falls)
Lake 22 is a slightly more difficult but extremely rewarding hike, offering boardwalks, a crystal-clear lake, and a moderately challenging 5.4-mile loop. This hike is ideal for anyone wanting a taste of the PNW in a nutshell.
Colchuck Lake
The Enchantments mountain range, next to the picturesque Leavenworth offers so many amazing hikes. Unfortunately, a raffle-obtained permit is needed to hike most of it. However, just at the entrance is Colchuck Lake, which is an eight-mile round trip that offers jaw-dropping views of bright blue waters with jagged peaks and snowfields. This hike is tough but unforgettable.
Skyline Loop Trail (Mt. Rainier)
This hike is slightly further, nestled in Mr. Rainier National Park, may be one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever been on. This iconic 5.5 mile loop showcases Mount Rainier in all its glory, as well as stunning wildflower meadows, and even a mountain goat if you’re lucky. This is an absolutely must do, especially at sunrise or sunset.
So lace up your boots and hit the trail— nature is calling.
