It is finally that time of year where spring sports are starting to come to an end except for the select teams who have really balled out and have made it to playoffs. The Wolverines are lucky to have a few athletic programs such as boys lacrosse, boys soccer, girls lacrosse, and baseball who are looking to make a deep playoff push this year. Today we are putting the spotlight on the baseball team’s playoff bracket and what they must do to go far.
The baseball team has had a great year going 12-10, while playing a tough Kingco schedule consisting of a lot of 4A schools. This has landed them to get the second seed and a playoff bye in the Kingco Tournament.
The final standings have caused a play-in game between Highline and Interlake, which the winner will go on to play Liberty. The winner of that game will play the Wolverines at Bannerwood Park on Saturday May 10 at 4PM, so make sure to tell your friends and pack the stands.
The winner of this game will go on to play in the Kingco Championship, playing the team who makes it out of the other side of the bracket. Either Sammamish or Mercer Island, which the winner will play the one seed Inglemoor.
But there is one more level to this tournament, whoever loses in the games against the one seed (Inglemoor) and the second seed (Bellevue), will be entered into the loser’s bracket, and the same for the championship. Meaning teams will have a second chance and they will play the winner of that initial losers’ game for the second place Kingco Title. This is super important as whoever finishes 1st and 2nd in Kingco will move on to the state tournament and will be able to keep their season alive.
Please feel free to check it out to stay updated with the Wolverines final playoff push. They will play Inglemoor in the Kingco championship Tuesday 5/13 at Bannerwood park 7PM. Make sure to pack the stands.
