Spring break is just around the corner and students are ready for their week off. From staying in town to boating trips in Europe, Bellevue’s student body will be traveling all around the world. But the question remains: where are Bellevue students travelling this year?
After months of darkness and rain, this week off helps students reset after a long winter. This is the perfect time to get on a plane and go somewhere sunny.
“During spring break I’m travelling to the Amalfi Coast. It’s a long travel, but it’s very worth it because the views are pretty and the food is good,” senior Eduardo Molina said.
While a week in Europe sounds exciting, long plane rides aren’t always appealing. Sometimes, choosing a closer destination can be less of a hassle. This means shorter plane rides, and longer time in the sun.
“I’m going to Cabo with some friends for the week. I’m looking forward to tanning on the beach and boat rides!” junior Lynzie Schiller said.
Mexico is a popular destination for students looking to relax and have fun. The plane ride isn’t too long, but you are still able to travel out of the country. Here, you’ll be able to tan in the sun, explore the local town, and meet lots of other students on their spring break and make new friends.
For some, this time is used to help themselves make their final college decisions. With most college decisions in, now is the time of year to start committing. A week off school is the perfect time for students to travel to their top universities to make that decision easier. College locations such as California allow students to tour the campus while also enjoying vacation time in the sun and at the beach.
“I’m going down to California for break and visiting University of San Diego, Chapman, and Pitzer. A lot of my friends are also going to SoCal to visit their schools. While I’m there I’m also going to visit downtown LA as well,” senior Daphne Dobson said.
Not everyone is leaving the state, many students are staying local for break. But that doesn’t mean students have to just stay in Bellevue! With the nicer weather coming in, it could be a perfect time to visit some of Washington’s best locations. Leavenworth is always fun to visit, and it’s only two hours away. This is also the perfect time to go hiking or camping and a great place for that could be on the Olympic Peninsula side of the state. Students can also take the ferry to different scenic spots, such as Bainbridge Island or to Friday Harbor for a day trip.
“I’m going to be practicing volleyball with my team instead of travelling for break. We’re getting ready to hopefully win a local tournament!” sophomore Grace Norrah said.
Whether it’s travelling across the world or staying in-state, anyone can make the most of their spring break. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the week off!
