In October, Bellevue’s Main Street welcomed its newest arrival, a café named Sconers. Open from eight a.m to seven p.m, the café serves a variety of scones, plus warm drinks ranging from coffee to matcha. Upon arrival, customers are greeted by the smiling faces of teddy bears sitting on the counter, which mimic the signature logo of the café.
“It has a really cozy ambience, and I really like that they always have some nice music playing. The only thing is that the chairs are kind of cramped, so it’s hard to sit down in large groups,” said freshman John Bede.
While Sconers may not be the greatest place to eat with a big group of friends, it’s definitely the perfect spot for a two-person meetup or a study session. The café serves their signature scones, including unique flavors like corn and onion, jalapeño chedder and earl grey scones. Their bestseller is the raspberry jam scone, but they also offer a variety of cream scones, with chocolate, mocha and earl grey fillings.
“My personal favorite is the chocolate cream scone. The filling is very rich but it isn’t too sweet or overwhelming. I also really like the texture of the scones. They’re very moist which is great, because I feel like most scones tend to be too dry,” said senior Eli Penner.
For those who are too busy to sit in a café and eat leisurely, luckily, Sconers also takes online orders. They box up scones in red boxes with their signature teddy bear, and they’ll leave it on the counter for pickup. That way, even if you’re in a hurry, you can still stop by quickly and pick up a pastry.
So, the next time you’re craving something sweet (or even savory), consider Sconers as your next spot. With its relaxing atmosphere, delicious warm drinks, and perfectly baked goods, it’s the perfect spot for a study session.
