The Bellevue High School UNESCO club is a new club established this school year. The club members are committed to their mission to promote cultural heritage, sustainability, and cultural understanding worldwide. Through collaborating with the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the student leaders have initiated projects aligning with their mission and values.
One of the most notable projects that they’ve been working on is “Music for Youth,” where they collect music-related items such as instruments, metronomes, stands and music books to support teens and adolescents in the Bellevue community.
“What inspired our creation of this drive is the UN Sustainability Goal #4: Quality Education. We want to help as many people as possible by giving them the opportunity to access musical resources and experience joy from music,” junior Chloe Lin said.
These students are committed to giving back to the community with a love for music and a compassionate heart.
“The initiative started with our love for music, but it’s not limited to people who have experience or equipment relating to music. We truly welcome everyone to engage in this project and come join our meeting as there are so many ways you can support us,” junior Angelina Chuang said.
Currently, they have contacted schools across the Bellevue School District, and multiple elementary, middle and high schools have agreed to support this initiative and cooperate with BHS UNESCO Club! Furthermore, students have decorated donation boxes, recorded clips for advertisement, and more. The project is going off a great track!
“The fundraiser will span from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2, so please make sure to donate any of your musical equipment! We truly appreciate your help!” junior Charlotte Wang said.
