What’s more stressful than planning HOCO? Finding the perfect dress! Dress shopping requires an enormous amount of preparation. First, most of the dresses ordered online take weeks to arrive, not even considering if the dress fits right or if it looks how you expected. This requires even more planning for exchange time. There is also the issue of finding something in your size, since most schools have HOCO, and sorority rush occurring at the same time; sizes go quickly. The most frustrating part is finding a store that actually accepts returns versus that awful store credit that feels like you are just wasting your money. Here are some tips Bellevue girls have learned along the way to make the process as enjoyable as possible.

Stick to places that offer free shipping and easy, free returns. Revolve and Nordstrom are two of the top contenders. Both send you a free return label, neither cares why you are returning the item (of course, tags need to be on, and it can’t be worn) and they credit you back the same way you paid. Both online retailers have tons of dresses to choose from, and plenty of inventory if the first five dresses don’t work!

Peppermayo is also a popular site many choose to buy dresses from, but customers should be wary of scammer websites. Some have accidentally ordered off “Peppamayo” and “Peepermayo”, only to realize a few typos can end in no dress and your money gone. If you do it the right way though, you can get exactly what you want.

“My dress is from Peppermayo; it came just how I imagined and fits perfectly. I can’t wait to wear it on HOCO!” says junior Hailey Andersen.

Beginning Boutique has a variety of different dresses, with something for everyone. Beginning Boutique does a nice job offering what most students are looking for in a HOCO dress.

“I got my HOCO dress from Beginning Boutique! They have so many cute options, and I fell in love with mine as soon as I saw it!” says junior Stephany Peixoto.

HOCO dress shopping can be stressful if you don’t put some thought into it first. Just remember to give yourself plenty of time to get the rejects back and the next shipment in. Read the fine print when it comes to the cost of the return and whether they even accept returns. And most importantly, pick what makes you feel good, not what’s expected; there is a perfect dress for everyone.
