Bellevue High School has officially kicked off its annual Fall Food Drive, which will run from November 12th through November 25th. This year’s focus is simple but meaningful: to collect peanut butter and jelly to support local families in need this Thanksgiving.
In partnership with Families Helping Families Give, BHS Leadership is working to encourage students to participate and make a real impact in the Bellevue community. Peanut butter and jelly might sound like a small contribution, but these items play a huge role for food-insecure families: they’re kid-friendly, nutritious, long-lasting, and easy to distribute. A classic PB&J goes a long way.
To prepare for the drive, ASB and class officers visited second-period classes on November 12th, delivering decorated brown paper donation bags to classrooms across campus. Leadership students spent their own second-period class time designing and assembling these bags, hoping that adding a creative, personal touch would inspire others to give.
“Being part of Leadership means finding real ways to support our community, this food drive is a simple way for all of us to contribute, and I really hope it helps families have a better Thanksgiving. Even one jar can make a difference,” sophomore class officer Teo Tagavilla said.
Tagavilla also emphasized how easy donating really is, students simply need to bring jars of peanut butter and jelly to their second-period classroom, where teachers are keeping track of totals. The second period class that collects the most food by November 25th will earn an extra special reward, a homemade breakfast prepared and served by ASB. Featuring pancakes, fruit and a full breakfast spread, the prize has already sparked friendly competition throughout the school.

Leadership members shared that their goal isn’t just to raise a lot of food but also to remind students how small acts of kindness can add up quickly. With the holiday season approaching, the drive gives BHS the chance to support families who might otherwise struggle during the break. Whether it’s one jar or several, every donation matters. BHS encourages all students to check their pantries, stop by a grocery store, and help fill the decorated bags waiting in classrooms. This Thanksgiving season, BHS has the chance to show what Wolverine pride truly looks like: community, generosity and coming together to ensure no family feels alone.
