A Review on Kura Sushi
Jun 12
East of Bellevue and located just off 116th Avenue is Kura Sushi, a popular revolving sushi bar chain. One of my favorite summer activities is going out to Kura for sushi and a cool drink, especially when my older siblings visit to pick up the tab. Eating at Kura just hits differently when you need to beat the once-in-a-blue-moon Bellevue heat wave that manages to peek through the eternal gloom. Now, I’m no food connoisseur, but I can tell you why I think everyone should give Kura sushi a try.
Though the quality of the sushi nowhere near world-class, it’s definitely notable. It would be unreasonable to expect some transcendent culinary experience given the reasonably priced $3.95 plates. Their sushi is consistent, tasty, and familiar. I particularly enjoy their Kura roll, made from avocado and shrimp mayo wrapped in rice and dried seaweed with seared salmon.
I also like Kura because of the convenience of it all. All I need to do is sit down and pick what I want off the conveyor belt, and if someone closer to the gate is sniping all the Kura rolls, all I need to do is tap and order off the screen. When I don’t want to expend a lot of energy, Kura is the place to go.
Unsurprisingly, Kura is popular, and it gets busy during peak hours and on weekends. But to avoid the (sometimes 2+ hour) wait, you can reserve a spot in advance. I recommend you try it at least once to see if you like the unique conveyor belt sushi experience.
